Arcadi Volodos piano · Berliner Philharmoniker · Seiji Ozawa · James LevineHere the big-toned Arcadi Volodos takes on one of the most familiar masterpieces of the piano repertoire, the Tchaikovsky First. It's a piece that is so familiar we tend not to listen to it very carefully, but Volodos finds subtleties and emphasizes interesting ideas. Seiji Ozawa and the Berlin Philharmonic are as impressive as the pianist. Volodos is the real thing, a flamboyant virtuoso with a great sense of style, tonal variety, and the kind of dexterity that draws attention to itself without taking your mind off the music. Rachmaninoff's Third is perfect repertoire for him, and he delivers an astonishing performance that combines fluency with weight.

I do play piano and in fact I do play on some musical plays. I have seen some concertos of Seiji Ozawa and the Berlin Philharmonic in video and I do agree that it is impressive. They are one of my inspirations in playing my piano. I'm determined to follow their steps someday.
